Ever wonder what you could do with all the extra space
beneath your house? With the proper drainage system and
the right remodel design plan, it is possible to turn this
into livable space!
This Raleigh homeowner came to us with the need for a space
designed to accommodate visiting relatives and provide
room for gym equipment. Originally, this project was drawn
as a large expensive addition off the back of the house.
Creative engineering later revealed that excavating and
finishing off the existing crawlspace and basement was a
less costly alternative and still met the homeowner’s
needs!
At the local permitting municipality, our building plans
were approved with ease! But during inspections, several
different inspectors felt challenged by the project and
turned it over to the head inspector. It may have been a
challenge for them, but it was just another day’s work for
us!
The beautiful stained glass between the bathroom and the
exercise room is a stunning accent custom made by the
homeowner. Since the remodel of this space, the
homeowner’s mother-in-law has claimed it as her own
private quarters when visiting, the teenagers in the
family have designated this spot as their personal
mini-arcade and the whole family has found themselves
enjoying the media room together while winding down from a
long day. The best part – Mom and Dad can keep up with the
laundry and their health while spending time with their
family! Multi-tasking has been taken to a whole new level
– the basement! |
