The original layout of this room did not allow for functional furniture placement.  The fireplace was at the end of the room where the family room adjoined the area where 4 door openings came together.  The man of the house was not originally on board with the renovation until we suggested flipping the masonry fireplace to open to the deck and sealing off the original location.  This ingenious idea got the homeowner to realize that a little out of the box thinking could give him an outdoor entertainment area, allow functional furniture placement and achieve all of the homeowners goals.
